Opening hours

From May 21 to September 21 
10am - 6pm

From September 22 to May 20
10am - 5pm

Last entry 45 minutes before the monument closes. 

Specific opening hours for the Sainte-Chapelle : The Sainte-Chapelle is temporarily closed every day during the lunch break between 12 noon and 2pm or 1pm and 2pm. We strongly recommend that you consult our opening times on the home page.

Monument closure

Closed all day on 1 January, 1 May and 25 December.

   In view of safety requirements and visitor management issues, group visits are not permitted on Sundays in all areas of the keep and the Sainte-Chapelle.

Practical details
 

The Revelacio tablet is included in the admission ticket. 

A valid identity document (identity card, passport, driving licence, health insurance card, etc.) must be left with you for the duration of the visit.

Visitors can be equipped up to 1 hour and 30 minutes before the castle closes. The tablet must be returned to the ticket office at 4:30 pm (5:30 pm in high season).

Available in 3 languages (French, English, Spanish).

Visitors are not allowed to park their vehicles inside the château, with the exception of people with reduced mobility who hold a disability card.

Services and conditions of visit

Entry Conditions

  • Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Restrooms are located in the keep courtyard and at the back of the gift shop (accessible only with a monument admission ticket).
  • Pets: Only guide dogs and assistance animals are allowed within the monument grounds.
  • Strollers are not permitted inside the monument grounds (they may be left outside).
  • Allowed luggage size: 30 cm × 40 cm × 15 cm. As the monument is a military site, there is no luggage storage facility.
  • For groups, advance booking may be required to access the monument and/or temporary exhibitions. Please consult the sections dedicated to group visits.
  • Smoking is prohibited throughout the entire site, both inside and outside the monument. In accordance with Decree No. 2025-582 of June 27, 2025, regarding smoke-free areas, outdoor public spaces where children and teenagers may be present or exposed—particularly public parks and gardens—are designated smoke-free areas.
  • Seat canes are available upon request at the entrance to the Sainte-Chapelle and the keep.

Weather Alert and Climate Conditions

The Château de Vincennes includes outdoor areas that may be exposed to wind and heat, or indoor areas that are not heated. During periods of extreme heat, early closures may occur. Know more

Consumption of food and beverages is prohibited in visitor areas, except in the dining area located in the keep courtyard. Learn more
