Visitor Aids
Revelacio Tablets for families : Explore the various areas as a team by following a quest to help three young time-travelers passionate about history! The family trail includes easier language.
Please note that the route includes areas that are not accessible (first and second floors of the Keep).
Included with admission; available at the ticket office in exchange for a form of ID.
Good to know
- Access to the first and second floors of the Donjon requires climbing numerous steps (approximately 150), as well as to the Tribune of the Sainte-Chapelle (around 70 steps). These staircases have uneven and high-contrast steps.
- The ground floors of the Sainte-Chapelle and the Donjon are accessible via disabled access ramp, as are the video room and the model room, located to the right of the keep’s entrance.
- The Château de Vincennes welcomes a large number of school groups. We recommend visiting during school holidays or on Wednesday for a quieter experience.
- Occasional vehicle traffic may occur within the grounds.
- Part of the site is outdoors: please wear appropriate clothing.
- Rest areas: benches are available in the main courtyard, on the first floor of the Donjon, and in the video room (to the right of the Donjon's entrance, on the ground floor).
- Guide dogs and assistance dogs are permitted.
- Seat canes are available upon request at the ticket office and shop, at the entrances to the Sainte-Chapelle and the Donjon.
Access and Parking
Parking
- Persons with disabilities (individuals or groups) may park their vehicle within the château grounds upon presentation of appropriate documentation (disability parking card) and without prior reservation.
- Please go to the main entrance of the château (located Avenue de Paris until August 11, and Cour des Maréchaux from August 11 to October 18, 2025); a security officer will direct you to the parking area (note: there are no designated accessible parking spaces).
- Once parked, the ticket office and shop are just a few meters away. The ground is uneven, with cobblestones and a light sand covering.
Access
- Construction work is currently underway on Avenue de Paris. As a result, access to the château will be via the Tour des Salves, from August 11th to October 18th, 2025, located in the Cour des Maréchaux. Access to this area is via a slightly sandy path.
- The “Château de Vincennes” metro station (Line 1) has many steps between the platform and street level. We recommend using the RER A “Vincennes” station, which is equipped with an elevator and escalators.
- Surface conditions on-site include uneven terrain: cobblestones, dirt, gravel, wooden planks, and metal grates.
