Presentation
In 14th century Toulouse, a mass with majestic polyphonic parts is recorded in a manuscript closely linked to the liturgy of the Avignon papal court. Two venerable saints from Toulouse are also celebrated in new monodic and polyphonic compositions: Saint Raymond, who was canon of Saint-Sernin, and the Franciscan Saint Louis de Toulouse, grand-nephew of Louis IX.
First performed at the Musée de Cluny last April, this program will be repeated this autumn in the holy chapels of Paris and the Château de Vincennes.
Schola de la Sainte-Chapelle
Created in January 2020 and under the direction of Brigitte Lesne, the "Schola de la Sainte-Chapelle" choir is dedicated to repertoires that are little performed and, above all, little taught: the sacred music of the Middle Ages and early Renaissance. Priority is given to recruiting young singers who are already professionals or about to become so, joined by experienced amateurs familiar with this music. In this way, a stable and loyal nucleus has rapidly formed. Each year, different work sessions are organized around an original program, culminating in the production and broadcast of a concert.
La Schola is developing its activities in partnership with the Centre des Monuments Nationaux and, since 2023, with the support of the Caisse des Dépôts.
